Dr. Vanessa Sweet

Quality Improvement
She/Her

Dr. Vanessa Sweet is an anesthesiologist and assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Born and raised in rural Nova Scotia (Hardwoodlands), she completed her undergraduate degree at Dalhousie University, and then obtained her MD at McMaster University. She went on to specialize in Anesthesiology at Queen’s University, and after residency obtained her Master of Science in Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety, also at Queen’s University. She currently practices Anesthesia in Nova Scotia Health’s Central Zone and has recently taken on the role of Associate Medical Director of Quality and Patient Safety within the Dalhousie University Department of Anesthesiology.

Outside of the OR, Vanessa is actively involved in her church community, is a prolific knitter, and is rediscovering the piano after a hiatus during her medical training. She is a burgeoning cyclist who adores the ride to work along the Halifax Harbour on a sunny summer morning. Most importantly, however, she is married to her tirelessly patient and supportive husband Pat and is constantly kept in stitches by their giggle-inducing daughter, Charlotte.
