Family Physician working at the Clare Health Centre in Meteghan Centre NS with 36 years of clinical experience. Dr Dow spent all of her career in Clare with the exception of 3 years at Woodlawn Medical Clinic in Dartmouth from 2005-2008 while her husband Dave, attended law school. She is a past president of DNS from 2016-2017. Dr Dow has experience in all forms of Physician renumeration, FFS, APP and now LFM. She is currently working in a collaborative care clinic with 10 other Physicians, a Nurse Practitioner and a Family Practice Nurse. She is the Medical Director for her clinic.
Dr Dow is passionate about medical education and has been a preceptor for numerous medical students and residents in the longitudinal residency program of Southwest Nova.
Her other passion is Physician recruitment. For the past 2 years Dr Dow has been the MD Recruitment lead for the Western Zone.
Dr Dow is now looking forward to the next chapter in her career as Family Medicine Lead for the Western Zone. She hopes to meet many new and older family doctors and help them navigate this complex medical system.
When she isn’t working, Dr Dow enjoys spending time at her camp, kayaking and paddle boarding with friends.
She also enjoys walking, golfing and biking.
During the winter months she snowshoes and makes maple syrup at the cottage.
She has 2 beautiful grand kids and likes to spend time with them as often as possible.
