A native Newfoundlander, Dr. Cheryl Pugh completed her medical degree at Memorial University in 1996. She subsequently completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at Memorial University in 2002. Her residency training was enriched by practice as a locum family physician. Dr. Pugh also holds a Master of Business Administration and has actively participated in leadership roles including South Shore Medical Site Lead, and Women and Children’s Zone Lead. She is also a graduate of the Physician Leadership Development Program and has been awarded the Canadian Certified Physician Executive Credential.
Dr. Pugh has worked as a general Obstetrician and Gynecologist at South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater for 20 years and has become increasingly involved in administrative roles over the last decade. Her professional interests include physician recruitment and mentorship. She has provided great support to residency training programs and visiting medical students over the years.
On a personal note, Dr. Pugh takes great pride in the accomplishments of her two children, a physician and a lawyer (to-be). She enjoys kayaking, being active in the gym, playing piano and fiddle.
