Dr. Brian Moses currently serves as the Zone Chief of Internal Medicine for Western Zone, and he is also the Medical Director for the Diabetes Education Center (DEC) at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. He was born in South Ohio, Nova Scotia.
Dr. Moses did a BSc with honors in Chemistry in 2000, Dalhousie Medical School in 2004, and finished his Internal Medicine residency in 2008 at Dalhousie University. He has worked in Yarmouth since then and does his locums in Yellowknife about 1-2 weeks per year.
For his leadership role, his favorite thing is coming up with innovative ways of delivering patient care to optimize outcomes for patients. He says that we are in a time where healthcare resources are relatively scarce relative to the burden of disease and finding ways to deliver effective care despite that is enjoyable.
His biggest claim to fame outside of medicine is that he won the Star Wars World Trivia Championship at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando back in 2012. This is a huge convention with 35,000+ attendees making him a big Star Wars nerd. He is also a big sports fan and tries to continue to stay active through sports. Hence, he started a baseball team in 2016 that plays in over 35 baseball leagues in Southwest NS, and they won the league championship in 2021.
