Dr. Joe Gillis is the medical site lead for Yarmouth Regional Hospital. His roles involve supporting physicians at the hospital by addressing potential issues, facilitating problem-solving, and implementing strategies tailored to the regional hospital's specific needs.
Originally from Creignish, Nova Scotia, Dr. Gillis completed medical school at Saba University School of Medicine in the Caribbean, which included clinical rotations in Baltimore, Louisiana, and Florida. He completed residency training in family medicine at East Carolina University in North Carolina.
Dr. Gillis finds fulfillment in problem-solving and advocating for his colleagues and the community. He utilizes his non-medical expertise to address healthcare challenges and find innovative solutions.
In his spare time, Dr. Gillis enjoys playing hockey, running, and listening to Celtic music. He enjoys engaging in all these pastimes alongside his wife and three kids.
